Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals

The Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals (WUMP) course is a nationally recognized program that trains urban caregivers to respond to medical emergencies in remote settings. This course is ideal for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), paramedics, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals.

You will learn to apply your professional medical training to the dynamic and unpredictable environment of the wilderness through the examination of case studies, and hands-on mock scenarios. Typically, this course s 5-days long, cover 48-hours of focused instruction from our seasoned instructors.

  • This course includes 48-hours of instruction, delivered generally over a 5-day period.

  • Successful course completion will earn the following NOLS Wilderness Medicine certifications:

    • Wilderness First Responder

    • Epinephrine Auto-injector

    • Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician

      • *This Course Will Upgrade an EMT to a WEMT.

  • This course is designed for certified EMTs, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, PAs, or other medical professionals.
